Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge is mainly composed of private properties, therefore it is the responsibility of all owners to preserve this sanctuary. For our part, we purchased one hectare in 1999, entirely cleared of undergrowth, only a few large trees had been spared. Since then, we are proud to have planted more than 30 trees and 40 palm trees and a large variety of native plants, recreating a new natural habitat for multitudes of birds, butterflies, insects. Half of our property is devoted to natural forest regeneration. We encourage all owners to do likewise.
